Introduction

In this guide you will learn how to download and run the Zoom.us desktop video client and log in with your East Central BOCES account. Once complete you will be ready to participate in ECBOCES meetings and professional development opportunities as well as collaborate with your colleagues face-to-face from anywhere with an internet connection!

  1. Go to http://zoom.us/download

    • Click on the Download button under the Zoom Client for Meetings option.

    • There are also installers available for your mobile device. Go to the app store on your device and search for Zoom.

  2. Depending on the browser you are using, you might have a bar at the bottom or a pop up box with an option to Run - click on Run (Microsoft Edge/Internet Explorer) or the Installer name (Chrome).   4. Once installed, the software should open automatically and bring to this screen.

    • Click on Sign In with SSO.

    • If you do not have a BOCES Zoom account, you can still connect to meetings by selecting Join a Meeting and typing in the Meeting ID number.

  5. On the next screen, type in the "ecboces" without the quotation marks in the box provided. You should only have to do this part the first time that you log in. On the next screen, enter your ECBOCES username and password and click on Log In.

    • Once logged in, the Zoom client will open.

  6. From the main window, click on the Settings icon. Click on the Audio tab, test your speaker and microphone to make sure that they are working. If you plan to use the computer sound for meetings, check the box that states Join audio by computer when joining a meeting.

    • Then, check your video is working in the video tab. .

  7. Back on the Main screen, click on the Meetings link at the top of the screen.  This will show you your private meeting id number. Click on Edit and use your cell phone number as your personal meeting id - this way you will never forget it!

  8. The Contacts tab will allow you to find contacts in the system. Start typing a name in the search area to find who you are looking for.  Click on the name of the person that you are looking for.

    • Once you have clicked on a name you will see options to Chat with them or start a Video Call.

    • It is good etiquette to send the person a chat message first to see if they are available for a video call.
